Hey! I’m Polly and I blog at Pixie Mama. Seeing as spring has finally sprung (here in the UK at least) it must be the start of picnic season! Going on a picnic is one of my favourite things to do and I wanted to share with you some inspiration.

Spring and summer are a great time for an outdoors excursion with your favourite people. And a picnic is one of the best ways to celebrate being outdoors.. Picnic ideas vary from person to person, but inevitably, it eventually comes down to one thing: location, location, location. Finding the perfect location is important to the success of the picnic because it sets up the mood and environment for food and fun.

It could be a tree-lined meadow with the scent of wild flowers; under a parasol, beside gentle waves breaking on a sandy shore; a leafy haven in the middle of a city;  an exhilarating cross-country ramble with friends; children scampering after balls on the beach or a quiet snooze on a blanket shared with a loved one.

A wicker basket full of tiny tarts, plum tomatoes, couscous, salad, crusty bread and olives. Ripe strawberries and fresh cream, and a melon for afters. A bottle of wine and home made lemonade. A patchwork blanket and plenty of pillows.

Nothing fills the heart with joy more than an afternoon spent lazing in the sun, nibbling on finger food, perhaps a little nap.

Wherever you choose to have your picnic, it is always the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
